It is vital for all things to function that there is a network of people to fall back upon, be it friends or the boss who owns you one. No matter what we aren't made to stand alone, facing the storm. We need a healthy support network, contacts, colleagues and friends to keep us upright. If one thing doesn't work out we have someone to go to and ask for help. They don't have to be your best friends, they have to influential (if you are looking for a job) or one of those people who know about everything. They open you doors, and allow you to regain your balance after you took a pounding. They are vital for success. We all need them for something. And just like plumbing they can be very complex - but don't be afraid to be ruthless, after all you are trying to achieve something. Exploit every opportunity you have - it might be your last.
